Description
Brown Pelican on Fort Walton Beach Florida's pier on Okaloosa Island.
The brown pelican is the smallest of the nine pelican species. It is a comically elegant bird with an oversized bill, sinuous neck, and big, dark body.
Juvenile birds are uniformly brown in color, and adults are lighter brown, with white heads, tinged with yellow
Fish make up almost all of the diet for the Brown Pelican. They are very fast at diving from the air into the water to get them. They have amazing vision that enables them to see through the water.
